In Wendy's memory I'm going to have a dry month of October to raise funds for
Macmillan Cancer Support
Those of you who know me well will know what a struggle this is going to be...
You also know I love a challenge x
I'm going to put £5 a day in for every successful day I complete... be worried if there are any gaps in the donations from me!! It will either be a wobble or my account's empty!

Status Updates

Day 26 - T minus five...
I had a phone call yesterday from Katherine at Macmillan's Running Team offering me a place to represent them in next April's London Marathon...
The phrase - I bit her arm off for it - comes close. So now for the serious bit, 6 months of hard work and prep. Makes not drinking for a month seem easier than it did 4 weeks ago!! X

Day 25 - 6 days of self-inflicted torture left to endure...
For reasons I won't bore you with, I had cause to weigh myself yesterday. I also know what I weighed, for a parachute jump, 3 months ago. The difference I was shocked to discover was nearly 7 kilos, or over a stone in old money!! #whoknew
I knew I was lighter than September but wow, no wonder I can run more easily than a month ago.
More news about my new running career, tomorrow!! X

Day 24
'Red red wine you make me feel so fine
You keep me rocking all of the time
Red red wine you make me feel so grand
I feel a million dollars when you're just in my hand
Red red wine you make me feel so sad
Any time I see you go it makes me feel bad
Red red wine you make me feel so fine...'
ONE MORE till we're reunited!! X

Day 23 - 8 days of abject misery to go...
Further to yesterday's post about giving my new running shoes an outing...
I took them to the zoo!
Today we're going to Westfields and Nandos on the way home...
Joking apart I did run an embarrassingly short distance yesterday. I'm not saying. Today further, tomorrow further still. Each long journey begins with... blah blah blah X

Day 22 - 9 to go!
I've invested in a smart pair of Asics Gel Road Runner Trainers...
They're going for an outing later, don't know how far yet, but probably not 26 miles...
More news tomorrow. Internet signal permitting I'm away from home this week and it's not working very well.
Almost forgotten about alcohol!! X

Day 21
I found Lucy's 'Good Book' yesterday. It's a Bible with a hip flask concealed inside, and it wasn't empty!
My head was saying 'move away from the book, you've only got 10 days to go...'
My heart said 'who'd know?'
Truth is, you all would. Wracked with guilt I would be compelled to tell you. I went for a walk x

Day 20 - Eleven Pipers Pipin'...
Sorry for the Christmas reference before Halloween, but for the number eleven, it was the first thought. My next was that thank God I'm not having a dry Xmas...
Tried to buy running shoes yesterday. So many choices were there, road/trail waterproof/breathable orange/turquoise etc., I ran out of time. Going back today to try them all on. X

Day 19
Some of you may know this... as a way of continuing my new healthy lifestyle I start Marathon training this week. I have applied to Macmillan to run in next April's Virgin Money London Marathon, as part of their team.
I haven't heard yet, but if I'm unsuccessful I can run in the Edinburgh event in May!
That's good too, I love Scotland (land of my Mother's birth). So I've got 6-7 months to get my stamina up to the required level. I'll probably need it and bags of resolve and determination... X
