Deanne's Story

Soberheroes are helping people like Deanne... As a single mum of three, Deanne was always a very active, energetic person. But everything changed when she was diagnosed with throat cancer. The severe side effects of her radiotherapy treatment left her unable to work – which in turn caused huge financial problems.

Deanne called the Macmillan Support Line for help. ‘They told me which benefits I was entitled to, what I needed to do, and said they’d act as an advocate for me. Macmillan came in at a point when I really needed their support. They put together an ideal package for me in terms of the help I got from the team, the support line and the literature.’ .
